Sci-Fi/Tech Noir
Drug-induced hallucinations in A Scanner Darkly
Sci-Fi Noir is born with films like high Cold War paranoia film Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and is elevated in the early 1980s with the film adaptation of Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?: Blade Runner. In this module we will consider a later adaption of Dick's sci-fi oeuvre, A Scanner Darkly, which utilizes live action production and then extensive rotoscoping for an extra hallucinogenic effect.
